The restored Portsoy Salmon Boathouse
|
The Salmon Bothy was built in 1834 and is one of the last salmon bothys in Scotland to remain intact. The Salmon House was used to prepare the salmon for transport to market, to store and repair the fishing nets and to provide sleeping and cooking space for workmen. The restored Bothy will be used as an education centre for what had been a major employer in Scotland and at the same time provide a permanent home for the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival. This Festival is now in its 14th year and is held around Portsoy's 17th century harbour. |
